"Thank you so much for making the 2004 C.E. shuford Journalism Banquet the most entertaining banquet that has been held in the history of the UNT journalism department. Susan Zavonia, chairperson of the department sent a message to our committee stating that in her opinion, this was the "best banquet ever - and I've been here 11 years!"

Nancy G. Eanes

"It was a huge hit here at Forsythe. We had some vp level people from our organization in our regional meeting today which is not the norm and they were rolling with laughter. You guys really made me look good because everyone asked where I found the group and complimented on what a great performance they did. Thanks again for pulling a team together on such short notice. ...[Pavlov's Dogs] was great to work with on setting everything up and the show went flawlessly from our perspective. Just wanted you to know we loved and I hope we get an opportunity to use Pavlov's Dogs again in the future."

"Pavlov's Dog is extremely entertaining and was a huge hit with our employees. They were able to incorporate our staff appreciation theme into a hilarious and comical improv performance."

"Hilarious! They were a huge hit!  Very Professional. And, perhaps more important, incredibly funny.  I would bring them back over and over."

"Thank YOU and your wonderful troupe of actors for their enthusiastic and enjoyable performances at our school's Festival of the Arts.  You were engaging and funny and we heard this from kids and adults alike.  You can be sure we will work together again in the future."

Donna Whitehead

"You guys were awesome!  I really appreciated how your troupe stayed on target with your audience.  I will definitely use Pavlov’s Dogs again!" - Mark Gorena, Youth Minister

"Your performance at our banquet was great!  We have laughed over and over again just thinking about some of the skits you performed.  Especially the “just friends” part – since it was my son Chad who brought Katie to the banquet.  We really appreciate the fact that you were able to make the skits funny but still very clean and appropriate for our youth group." - Sherry Stephenson - Youth Parent

MR. METROPLEXUAL Pavlov's Dogs chases away ennui It's a dark and stormy night -- Friday date night, to be precise -- and here I am flying solo. Again. My mood is as sour as the weather.

As I scrape my fine Texas boots across the Triscuit-thin superficiality of Dallas' West End, elbowing my way through a crowd that probably considers a night at Vegas' New York, New York hotel better than the real Big Apple, my snob meter is about to redline.

Try as I might, I can't even muster my usual Euro-trashy, air-kissing smiley face.

But just then, I hear the twitter of witty banter spritzing out from the West End Theater. Lured by the siren of sophistication, I find a seat at one of the theater's clubby tables and calm my jangly nerves with a Stoli and soda.

Pavlov's Dogs, an improv comedy troupe bounding around the stage like a bunch of hyperactive lab mice, evoke a Pavlovian response I never expected.I'm laughing, uncontrollably.

The Dogs come by their yuks honestly. They manipulate their mugs into a thousand faces, never laugh at their own jokes and never stoop to calling an audience member a hockey puck. Don Rickles should have been there. That hockey puck might have learned a thing or two from these inspired amateurs.

Thanks to the Dogs, Saturday found me in much better spirits, back in Fort Worth at the opening of the William Campbell Contemporary Art gallery's 30th-anniversary show.

Patrons can go casual or formal at Pocket Sandwich Theatre. On the night we visited, we wore jeans and T-shirts, while a tuxedo-clad wedding-party entourage a couple of tables over included a former contestant from The Apprentice, Bowie Hogg.

Fortunately, on this night, nobody seemed to judge appearances, and nobody got fired. We were all too busy laughing at the antics onstage during the late-night improv comedy show, which starts at 11:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Four improv troupes perform on a rotating weekly schedule. Pavlov's Dogs put on an upbeat audience-participation show this night. Admission is $10.

The improv troupe performs sans microphones. Troupe members' voices project well in the small theater, adding to the intimacy and energy of the experience. The skit plots are concocted from audience suggestions, and sometimes from newspaper headlines.

If Mad TV and Saturday Night Live float your boat, you'll like Pavlov's Dogs. The language can get colorful, and the humor is often blue. No subject matter is sacred, and the group will lampoon anybody, including Mr. Hogg. They called him onstage for an interview. They then spoofed his personality in a skit – all in good fun but scathing nonetheless.

“Pavlov’s Dogs, a local Dallas Improv Troupe delivers one of the funniest shows I have ever seen.  Years of performing together has given them their polished, versatile, quick witted improv show that makes hundreds laugh weekly.  Their Friday night shows draw a packed house and consist of both long and short form improvisation techniques.  The combination melds long form finesse and wit with character-based versatility and energy – creating a signature style performance.”

Pavlov's Dogs - Laugh until you salivate.

Chances are you won’t need any conditioning to experience a laughable reaction to this improvisational comedy troupe. The funny foursome began their comedic antics at Texas A & M in an act called Freudian Slip and, for the most part, have been honing their skill ever since. With a mixed grill of comedic repertoire, Pavlov’s Dogs take the more traditional improvisational techniques and add their own style, wit, and energy to them. One of their signature segments that seems to be a huge hit with audiences is an interactive segment where audience members are asked to throw out random phrases for the troupe to spontaneously incorporate into the show. Such a method to comedy seems to be working as the troupe has been getting rave reviews from audiences and fellow comedians alike (don’t expect to find a seat in the house if you show up late to one of their shows). For those of you needing a few good laughs or desperate to impress a date, Pavlov’s Dogs will likely be your best bet; just make sure to show up on time to get a good seat.
